Public road relocated by Pen Coal Corporation enhances local water quality and residential travel

 The Pen Coal Corporation in Wayne County, West Virginia, was awarded the 1999 West Virginia Reclamation Award. Pen Coal engineered, upgraded and relocated more than 8,000 feet of public road to complement a major underground mining operation. This major road improvement has enhanced the water quality of Kiah Creek and the East Lynn Lake, as well as the travel of local residents.
